Proverbs 17:17

A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity.

Oh, that verse is sooooo true in my house.  Can I get an Amen!  My kids fuss and fight all the time!  But, they love each other to death (just don't let the others know.  LOL!)

Speaking of kids.  It was my middle son's birthday the other day.  So, momma had to make cupcakes to take them into school.  Well, its not just any old cupcake.  He had seen another kid from another class have the  icecream cupcakes.  So, he wanted those.

Well, I had no idea how to make them, so off I searched for them.  Did you know there are several methods to making these?  So, I HAD to do a test batch a few weeks before his birthday to figure out which was the easier way to do this.  Because I am ALL about easy.

And here is what I found:

And by the way, did I say I was all about easy?  Yea, I make our cakes from scratch, so we don't get any preservatives in our system, so easy is not a word that is used in my kitchen that often.

Cake recipe:

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter , room temperature
2 1/4 cups sugar
5 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups all purpose flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup milk

Directions:
In one bowl mix together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Add eggs 1 at a time.  Add vanilla and blend until smooth.
In a different bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Alternate adding flour mixture and milk to the sugar/butter mixture, until all is combined and smooth.

Now, to make this into ice cream cupcakes......

Using a cookie press, put batter in cookie press.  Squeeze batter unto ice cream cones until they are about 3/4 of the way full.  Continue this until all of your ice cream cones are filled.  Make sure the ice cream cones stay upright at all times.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes.

Then, I cheated.  I used store bought icing.  and sprinkles.

And here are the results!

Enjoy!

Proverbs 27:17

Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

NO POO JOURNAL:  DAY 3

On day 3 you are to wash your hair with the baking soda paste (see day 1 for amounts).  And also condition it with vinegar.  And I actually remembered the vinegar today!!!!!  The amounts you need for this is 2 Tblsp Apple cidar vinegar and 1 Cup water mixed together.

Here are the results:

WOW!  Look at that body, in that hair!  I LOVE it!  No, my hair does not smell like vinegar.  My hubby even did the sniff test and he said he could not smell anything.  This do is with no gel, no hairspray, no nothing.  Just wash my hair with baking soda and condition it with vinegar, then I blew it dry, and curled it with a hot air curling brush.  That is it!

And the hairdo lasted all day.  And it was a rainy day, therefore my hair would normally flop.  But, not today.

I did not feel any tingling of my scalp today, nor did I feel my hair was heavy.  I just LOVE the results!

Onward we go!

Exodus 23:2

You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice.

NO POO JOURNAL:  DAY 2

On day 2, you are not supposed to wash your hair.  So, I didn't.  But, I still curled my hair and almost, I mean almost grabbed the hairspray to spray my hair, but caught myself.  I set the bottle back down on the counter just in time.

Here are your results from day 2.

This day, my hair was a little flatter than normal.  Had a few more fly aways.  And felt a little more heavy.  But, no noticable flakes or anything.

On to the next day!

1 Corinthians 15:33,34

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

I'm trying to make one new recipe per night.  Last night, I made the best, hands down, potatoes I have had in a long, long time.  My hubby even liked them and HE doesn't eat parmesan.  WOW!

You HAVE to try these tonight!

Ingredients:
2-3 potatoes thinly sliced
3 Tblsp Olive Oil
2Tbsp Italian Seasoning
... 2 tsp Sea Salt
4 Tblspoons Parmesan Cheese

In a big ziploc bag, coat the potatoes with the olive oil. Then add the Italian seasoning. Finally add the salt. Bake on a baking sheet @ 450 for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Top with Parm cheese and bake an additional 5 minutes.

Enjoy!

Ephesians 4:32

Be Kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Today I am starting a series on NO POO.  Yep, you heard me, no poo, meaning no shampoo or conditioner in my hair from here on out.  In fact, I don't want to put any more product in my hair ever again! (well, except for color)

So, I have been contemplating doing this for several months now.  But, I've always been afraid to because I color my hair every 5-6 weeks.  If I didn't color my hair, I would be completely grey, and I am just too young to be grey, Hmmmph!  Then, the last time I was getting my hair done, my hairdresser noticed while she was curling it that I had product build up in my hair.  She told me to use baking soda to get it out.  Well, duh that is what no poo is.  So, if my hairdresser was telling me to use it, it must be safe.  But, it still took me several weeks to start it again (I go get my hair colored next week.  See how long it took me to make my decision?).

What really made me decide was my hair started falling out.  Honestly, my hair falls out all the time, I have a TON of hair, so I never miss it.  This time though, it seems to be falling out a lot more than usual.  I still have a ton of hair left, so I don't miss it.  But, it got me thinking and realizing that maybe all of the product in my hair was drying out my hair and causing it to break off.  Who knows if this is the real reason, but it sounded good.

So, I started no poo........ halfway.  I had baking soda in my bathroom already, but I didn't have the vinegar.  So, the first day, I washed my hair with 1 Tblsp of Baking soda, mixed with 1 Cup of water.  You are supposed to scrub your scalp with this mixture.

And here are the results.

Honestly, I did notice a few white spots in my hair this day.  I'm thinking it was left over baking soda.  But, once I dried and curled my hair, I never noticed it again.  Also, my hair felt heavy for some reason.  It could be from the product still in my hair.  And my scalp tingled a little all day, not enough to bother me, I just noticed it.

But, all in all it was a good experience.  Now, if I can keep this going, I will not only save a lot of money, but I will not be putting any carcenogan (sp?) on my hair anymore.

Have a great day!

2 Corintians 5:21

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Today is so dreary out, I am ready for bed.  It has been raining for 2 days now and I'm not sure when it will end.  But, on the bright side, I have had a busy morning so far.  Lets just hope it stays that way.

Has it really been almost a month since I posted something?  Well, today is your lucky day because I plan to post several posts.

First of all, this is my Pineapple Smoothie, YUM!

Ingredients:
2 Cups OJ
2 Cups Pineapple/Mango frozen fruit
1 Cup Bananas
1 Tblsp Chia Seeds

This is the juice and some of the pineapple/mango.
Mixing it up!
